Stampin' Trimmer The Basics UK demo shares her video and tips with us
Lovely UK demo tips video

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, I am doing something a bit different today. There is a video to accompany this blog post and what I am doing is showing you how I mark up my trimmer and see other top tips for it.
The Trimmer
I love my trimmer, it is the best trimmer I have ever owned and it was on top of the list of my starter kit and I just couldn't wait to get it. I also love that you can score with the trimmer so that means if you are just starting out then it saves you money on buying a score board.
Marking
up my trimmer

I like to have marks on the trimmer to show me very quickly where to cut my card bases and mats. These marks are for use with UK A4 size card stock. It can easily be adjusted to fit other size card stock.
·
The blue mark is for half a standard A4
sheet in both landscape and portrait
·
The green mark is the first mat size
·
The pink mark is the double mat size
I like to cut my mats 1/4" smaller
all around so it leaves a 1/8" border.
The Blue marks
·
5 7/8"
·
4 1/8"
The Green marks
·
5 5/8"
·
3 7/8"
The Pink Marks
·
5 3/8"
·
3 5/8"
Tip
for cutting smaller strips
I use washy tape if I am cutting small
strip. The washy holds the card stock in place while I cut. I always have a
strip of washy stuck to my trimmer.

Tip
for seeing the measurements on the centre arm
It is quite hard to see the
measurements on the centre arm so I have stuck some white paper on the
underside so I can read it better.

Trimmer
Storage
I know quite a lot of people who have
not realised that there is a storage section underneath the trimmer! Very handy
for keeping spare blades.

Changing
the blades
It may be easier to watch the video
than read this! But basically you put the blade to the bottom of the track
where there is a section that has a larger aperture, you then just pull it out,
sometimes it is easy to do and sometimes you may need something to help lever
it out. Then to replace drop the new blade in the hold and snap in place.

Cleaning
the track
From time to time the track will need
to be cleared of the paper fibres that build up in it. I run my pokey tool down
it, sometimes I wrap some paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol around
it.
How
long do the blades last?
It does depend on how often you use it.
I have never actually timed how long one lasts but probably 3-4 months and I
craft every day. It is important to use the trimmer on a flat surface, to press
lightly when pulling it towards you or away from you. I often start my cut in
the middle of the card stock if the blade is getting a bit old. Some people
also swear by cutting kitchen foil to give the blades a bit of extra life when
they are wearing out.

I do hope you found that useful. I will be back soon with another project, until then ...
Happy Crafting!

Personal update and a new video on exciting new products in November only
video of the November only special suite
Staring 1st November and ending 30th this suite is available to purchase through my 24/7 online store.
Just click on my card on the right to be taken straight to my store.
I have started playing with this set as I am a demonstrator so I get to purchase new products a month before the public. Join my team and you could as well and save 20% of every purchase.
Unfortunately due to the tear in a tendon in my right shoulder I have been restricted in the craft room (under Doc's orders) until 1st Nov when I get an injection into my shoulder which I hope will ease if not get rid of the pain. I did have to play a little as my craft ladies and I had a shoe box morning and I had to make 2 cards (one box was for my Mother in Law as she is unable to do her own box) and I used the dies from this set and some of the lovely Christmas paper out of the holiday catalogue. For the first time every I used ready made bland cards from SU that I have in my stash and made very plain but effective cards. This was due to keeping it very simple as we had to make 8 card packs ready for assembling. It was a great morning and even my 84 + Mother in Law made 5 of the cards in one morning, no mean feat for her.
I will try and have classes and maybe a shoe-box morning when my shoulder is better and after my returning family move back into their house.
Oh I can now tell all, my son and his family (with my gorgeous 3 grandson's) are returning to Townsville to live. Homesickness kicked in after the family snow get together for my 60th and they made the decision to return home. Helped by the fact their tenants decided to vacate their house and gave 1 months notice. So they are staying with us till their furniture arrives and their home is ready to move back in. This should all co en side with my shoulder getting better.
However I lost the shop room at Craft Creation's in Pimlico due to the fact I could not start classes straight away when I negotiated the renting of the room for classes. So it's back to my home for classes and that is how it will stay until another opportunity arises.
I have also been working this semester teaching and marking at JCU and only finished on Friday so that has been full on and kept me very busy. I only have 2 days of marking left to do in mid November for exam papers and then nothing more on the books but hope to start again in January teaching mental health.
So all going well I will start classes again very soon, opps forgot am also helping my family out with babysitting duties so most likely will have a 5 yr old (birthday tomorrow) with me so hope that will be ok ladies. They are coming from an area that has been in sever drought and money has been scarce so I am saving them day care fee's till he goes to school next year. His brothers will also be with me but not during school hrs.
Thanks again for being soo patient with me and my health issues, I hope to be on board again soon.
cheers,
Raye

France Martin has kindly shared this video which shows us how to take our cards to the WoW stage.
I have a very bad right shoulder which has stopped me crafting for some time but not from the want to craft. Off for a ultrasound on Monday to see if the damage is just bursitis or more rota cuff involvement. Very very painful whatever it is and keeps me awake at night as well as drives me mad in the day. grrrrrr.
I am also deep in marking university papers at this moment so that is also keeping me out of the craft room.
But I am still here for all that need me and am happy to help as I can. I was fortunate to welcome a new team member (Silky) recently and am assisting her to get her Stampin' Up! business going.
Enjoy the video and learning new techniques.
