craft morning

Had a wonderful crafting morning with my craft ladies. Today we explored two new card folds and a great scrapbooking page or two was created by one of the ladies. It is soo nice to catch up every week and do craft together, We laugh, we play, we craft, we drink lots of tea and coffee and eat yummy food. But together we learn and today was especially fun as we explored all the new goodies from the new Stampin' Up! catalogue beginning 1st June.

Also today I shared a new tip with the ladies:
If you experience issues with your clear stamps not sticking to your block, try adding a small amount of lip barm, yes lip barm of all things and your stamp will remain insitu. However, it dosen't when you clean the stamp with our stamp and scrub as it tends to want to slide off whilst scrubbing but hey it's worth it. Then u need to clean both sides of the stamp with our stamp cleaner and clean the block as well. Bit more work but far better than a ruined card.

Jennifer McGuire shared this on my FB page and asked me to listen to this address as it is so moving and a must for all to hear.

https://youtu.be/gGxUXtp-N8U

Former Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown tells UT graduates how inviting someone home for dinner could change the world.
Jennifer McGuire shared this on my FB page and asked me to listen to this address as it is so moving and a must for all to hear.
It resonated with my own life story as I went to school with a young lass called Mary M who just happened to very very black, poor and lonely.  Now as you all know I am white and came from a poor but happy background, but I too was lonely as I was bullied in my school life by a particular girl and at times her friends. So Mary and I became friends, this caused more bullying but I didn’t care as I really liked Mary and she liked me too.
I went home to Mary’s house to play one day and although the home was falling down on the outside, the inside was immaculately kept and Mary’s Mum and family welcomed me with open arms. I could see that Mary’s Mother had the same values as my Mum had and I felt right at home and my friendship with Mary could continue. You see, I promised my Mother that if it didn’t feel right at Mary’s house that I would not stay. This was a promise that I made for all my visits to friends homes no matter their colour or creed.
To this day my friends come from all different backgrounds and they mean the world to me, I do not see their colour or differences as any different to me, just their personalities and the fact that they want to be friends with me. (hey I am a very talkative person and unique so they gotta want to be my friend and put up with me first).
In my 40 + years as a Nurse, I nursed people from all backgrounds, colour and creed. To me, the person in the bed was nursed as if they were my Mother, Father, Sister or Brother and treated with the utmost respect and dignity. At times this could be challenging to remain true to this but underneath most were scared and vulnerable and my fair treatment and caring crossed the barriers and we together could get them through their hospital visit. In mental health, this proved to be an effective way of nursing as I could be looking after the toughest looking guy with tatts all over his body, spent time in jail etc, but with persistence and care, I could work with him/them to reach a bond that helped them in their recovery.
Not all my patients worked with me and for those, I had to say, I failed to make it across the bridge to them or they wouldn’t meet me halfway. But we cannot get on with everyone in life and sometimes we just have to accept that we cannot help that person. We just need to respect this and allow others to find the way to help or befriend them.    Like I said I am unique, so I am not always everyone’s cup of tea so to speak.

Mary was lost to me as her family moved in primary school, but I have never and will never forget her and her friendship and would today wrap my arms around her and hug her to bits if I meet her again. So I agree with the final message in the video, open your hearts to those around you and don’t judge a book by it’s cover.  Not all who we meet and embrace will become our friends but we can happily say, hey we gave it a chance.  Sometimes we are let down by people but this is part of life and if we don’t take a chance we may never know if they were to become a part of our lives.

Cancellation of Open House

Image may contain: textHi guys, unfortunately, my carer duties have taken over at the moment due to my Father-In-Law being in the hospital so I am unable to have my Open House this week. I have rescheduled for the 15/6/17 at this stage but will post closer to the date. My Father-In-Law suffers from a heart condition which is deteriorating so we are keeping close tabs on him, as well he is to go under the knife to have skin cancers removed on Wednesday. Today I sat at the hospital for 3 hrs waiting for a meeting with his treating team and eventually had to go as hadn't eaten and they could have been a few more hours. I also had to collect my car as it went in for a service today.  Ho hum and to boot my hubby turns 60 tomorrow and came home early to see the prawns etc I had brought him so we had them tonight. YUM
So please bear with me and come to my open house and see all the new products that I have purchased from the brand new 2017-18 catalogue. It is probably better to have it then as I will be able to purchase more items from the cattie as of the 1st of June. As a demonstrator, I was able to make a restricted purchase so do have some items but as I say will have a lot more on the 15th. I will also post more dates as well to cover all working customers.

Spent my morning at the Renegade Handmade Markets and met some wonderful people and sold a lot of cards and gifts to boot.

Some of the ladies who stopped to chat are avid crafters and plan to come to classes soon, I look forward to sharing my love of craft with them. I hope they do follow through with their plans to let me teach them new card folds/ tips and tricks or scrapbooking pages, I will really enjoy making them friends for the future and create together.

How to clean our stampin' scrub,

Tool Tip:  Stampin' Scrub
Image
Whenever I stamp I use my Stampin' Scrub (126200). It's large enough to clean any size stamp. With two sides, it's perfect: one side for cleaning and one side for drying.

Here's my tip:  You can remove the pads from the container, but if you leave the pads in the Stampin' Scrub they're less likely to warp.

Using a bit of mild detergent and water, lather it up and then let it sit for awhile.

Rinse off under running water and squeeze out the excess water.  Dry it with an old towel. Turn it over and prop it up on something so the air can circulate and air dry it. Now it's ready to use the next time the urge to stamp hits you

no I didn't like it, I love it. Pocket empty after buying early as a demonstrator.
